The role of the writer has always been an enigmatic one. The writer has to strike a balance between the demands of the market and the desires of the writer. When the writer is trying to get something across, he or she has to make sure that it does not sound forced or too much like a sales pitch. We ... should always remember that the audience is the one who is going to determine whether we are going to be successful or not. In the case of fiction written by women, fiction involving women, fiction involving any sort of relationship, the word that comes to mind is 'romance.' This is why in the end, we end up in a romantic or unrealistic state of mind. It is easy to get carried away when the audience is all too willing to go along with it. It is only natural that the audience expects romance in fiction written by women. It is only logical that we would be a bit disappointed when we get something else.
