The Ruby Bridges Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides science camps for young girls of all backgrounds. It has programs all over the United States and they encourage young women to participate in these programs. Ruby Bridges, who was a 6-year-old African American girl, went to an all... -white elementary school in New Orleans. She had been targeted by the Ku Klux Klan and the school administration. The people from the Ku Klux Klan entered the school with weapons and threatened the students and their parents. It was at this time that the first call for federal intervention came. As a result, Ruby Bridges was enrolled in a segregated school and she was eventually sent to live in a foster home. She later became the subject of a documentary named Ruby Bridges. It is a story of courage, hope, and a love for learning. It is also a story of change and hope.
